In previous entries such as this, this or this one we talked about letters in songs in the context of war, and here is another song to add to the list.
El Último de la Fila (1984-1998) was a Spanish pop rock group based in Barcelona, formed by Manolo García and Quimi Portet, which released a total of seven albums before disbanding in early 1998.
The song "Querida Milagros" was written and composed by Quimi Portet and originally had an ironic purpose, according to Wikipedia, but it ended up being interpreted by both audience and critics as an anti-war song. The lyrics speak about a soldier named Adrián who dies fighting in an anonymous war front and then we come across the only personal object found on the corpse: his love letter addressed to his girlfriend, Milagros. The song ranked number 87 among 200 best Spanish pop-rock songs in Rolling Stone (2010).
