Letters in Music: "Vuelve a casa"

We are going to take a trip down memory lane today with this song by Fórmula V, which takes me back to my childhood days and long road trips in a green Seat Ritmo.

Fórmula V can be classified as "bubblegum pop", a genre of pop music with an upbeat, summer-y sound contrived and marketed to appeal to pre-teens and teenagers. Its classic period ran from 1967 to 1972, and a second wave emerged two years later and ran until 1977. I wasn't even born then but my father liked this music and bought the vynil discs and later the cassette tapes, so these songs were played in the car or at home in the record player. These vynil discs are still at home and I love their sound, the boxes they come in, their music and the memories associated to them.

I did not know this song, though, "Vuelve a casa" (1969) which is about a letter begging you to recall the past times and come back home to me.

"Vuelve a casa"

Quiza yo me haya portado mal
Pero por farvor vuelve ahora conmigo
Pues necesito tenerte otra vez junto a mí.
